11 Mar 2021

The Council on Training in Architectural Conservation (COTAC) publishes series of reformatted and updated online publications on built heritage.

COTAC aims to advance the education and training of all those involved in the protection and preservation of the historic environment and to provide knowledge in support of training and education in the arts.

The Council shares learning and educational materials on built heritage through its COTAC Global website, which provides access to studies, conference report series and bibliographic lists aimed to build awareness and appreciation of built heritage. COTAC’s sistersite understandingconservation.org provides further information and resources to develop conservation skills through a framework based on the ICOMOS Education and Training Guidelines.

The Council has recently taken a more formal approach to publishing its technical conservation related outputs by successfully seeking ISSN identifiers for the publication series available on its main website. The series have now been updated with their ISSN series designations alongside other updates and improvements. The newly made available resources include:

  • The COTAC Studies ISSN series: offers conservation orientated CPD materials to the professional, educational and training worlds, in addition to information for a variety of lay audiences. The series has been recently reformatted and updated.
  • The COTAC Insight ISSN Series: specifically prepared as educational resources with the aim of helping readers gain a comprehensive understanding of built heritage and how it might be better protected, with the first edition focus on the appreciation of built heritage. The target audience includes students, the general public, crafts and trades professionals.

All resources are available as pdf downloads from www.cotac.global
