Look out for Icon’s new member magazine

Something new is landing on Icon member doorstops this week

After nearly a year in development, the first issue of Icon’s freshly-revamped member magazine has left the printers and is now in the post!

It follows a comprehensive project to recast the publication, in order to ensure it remains dynamic, relevant, and engaging amidst fast-paced changes in the world outside.

Based on a new vision set out by Icon, the new magazine is set to be much different from the old.  Longer, more people-focused and image-rich than its predecessor, Iconnect Magazine puts the spotlight on conservation professionals more than ever before, delving into the human dimensions behind the fascinating projects pursued by Icon members and other conservation professionals.

Taking up the reins to handle the editing, design and production of the magazine is established communications agency CenturyOne, working the vision set out by Icon based on the results of research into readership views and content direction in the summer of 2022.

Stewart Dymock, Strategy Director at CenturyOne said:

CenturyOne are delighted to be working with the Institute of Conservation on the relaunch of their members' magazine. As a specialist member magazine publisher, we thoroughly enjoyed working with an organisation which does such vital work in the preservation of our nation's heritage.

We have taken a reinvigorated approach to both design and content and we look forward to evolving the magazine in conjunction with both Icon and its members.

Dr Michael Nelles, Icon’s Head of Membership, who led the redevelopment project, said:

It’s been a huge project, but I’ve really enjoyed working with CenturyOne and I’m really excited with the result. I can’t wait to hear what members have to say.

The new title replaces Icon’s previous bi-monthly member magazine, Icon News, which had been published bi-monthly since Icon’s inception in 2005.  Under the capable hands of indefatigable editor Lynette Gill for its entire run, 103 issues were published – covering an expansive range of conservation projects during that time.

‘I’ve really enjoyed it, but the time seemed right to hand over the reins,’ Lynette said. All 103 issues of Icon News are available for download from the Icon website.
