Supporting Pathway members in their continuing professional development!
The annual Pathway event offers a series of talks and virtual networking opportunities designed to support Pathway members in their continuing professional development and their journey towards becoming Accredited members of Icon.
Now in its ninth year, the event will be focusing on how professional conservators can develop their confidence, make the most of support and importantly have been able to adapt to the challenges of the last year.
Alex Coode ACR - Architectural Metal
Ashley Lingle ACR - Archaeology
New ACRs will present projects they included as part of their Accreditation application and assessment, highlighting how they referenced the Professional Standards within their work and how this helped them to be successful at assessment. They will use this as an opportunity to reflect on their experience of becoming Accredited members of Icon.

Ros is a Ceramics Conservator with 30 years of experience in the independent sector who gained her Icon Accreditation in June 2021. She is currently the Chair of the Ceramics & Glass Group Committee.
Her conservation practice is based in East Sussex, where she works on Ceramics, Glass, and Related Materials for a wide range of clients including private individuals, collectors, dealers, local Museums, and Heritage Bodies such as The National Trust and the Dean and Chapter, Westminster Abbey. Her special interests include assessing objects and preparing them for travel prior to exhibitions and training house staff in the care of ceramics and damage prevention. Before embarking on a career in conservation she was responsible for organising medical conferences at The Wellcome Foundation.
I am Textile Conservator at the Bowes Museum in County Durham with a specialist interest in costume mounting and developing acrylic mannequins although the collection includes the Blackborne lace collection and extensive quilt collection from the North East. In addition I supervise two ICON/HLF funded interns each year. Previously I worked on a project called From the Golden Age to the Digital Age: Modelling and Monitoring Historic Tapestries. I trained at the Centre for Textile Conservation (CTC) at the University of Glasgow, graduating in 2015 and then worked on the mounting for the permanent fashion gallery at National Museums Scotland.
Previously I studied Classics at University College London and became very interested in Reception Theory which I’m sure will inform some of my interpretations throughout the next 3 years. I’m also planning on doing a couple of little side project, looking at the preservation of performance costume and when art becomes heritage.
Apart from a couple of stints working client-side at Travelex and Shell in the Global Brand & Communications department, the majority of Catherine’s working life has been spent agency-side in client services and business development roles. She is passionate about helping agency teams and individuals improve their presentation and communication skills as she believes this can help an agency have that much needed edge over the competition and ultimately win them more business.
As well as her agency career, Catherine has a background in acting and was fortunate enough to learn from directors and actors such as Paul King, Cal McCrystal, Phil Wilmott and Toby Jones. She draws on her work in the theatre and her extensive voiceover experience to give agency staff useful tools and techniques for effective communication and powerful presentations.
Catherine continues to work as an agency marketing and business development consultant, maintaining an insight into the trials and tribulations of agency life.
