Academic writing is the means by which researchers share their work within the academic community. This session will explore the different stages of academic writing, offer useful tips for engaging various academic audiences, and help you determine the best avenues for disseminating your research. The workshop will include a mix of presentations and hands-on exercises.
Through this drop-in session, you can learn how to structure your proposal while maintaining your writing style, gain insights into the peer-review process, understand how to respond if your initial submission is unsuccessful, and discover approaches for publishing practice-led research with a focus on practitioner engagement.

Dr Jonathan Kemp is the editor of the Journal of the Institute of Conservation. Jonathan is a stone conservator with more than 30 years experience. He has been a new media artist for over 20 years as well as a lecturer at the City & Guilds of London Art School, a senior conservator at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and a senior lecturer in conservation at the University of Melbourne.
