Icon's peer-reviewed Journal is published three times a year in February, June and October by Taylor & Francis. Icon Members receive free printed copies of the Journal and have advanced online access to Accepted Manuscripts.

The Journal was previously published as The Paper Conservator (1976-2008) and The Conservator (1977-2008). Icon Members can access all back issues.

The aims of Icon’s Journal are to:

Promote knowledge of cultural heritage conservation practice, the research which underpins it and related issues
Enable communication of advances between conservators and the wider conservation and heritage communities in the UK and internationally
Provide a permanent medium of record of issues relating to conservation and the heritage sector

Write for the Journal

The Journal invites contributions from all those involved in the conservation of cultural heritage and related activities.

Areas of interest include:

Understanding cultural heritage materials and their degradation;
Subject reviews and histories of cultural heritage materials and conservation treatments;
New, innovative or improved approaches to conservation and collections care theory, practice, communication, management and training;
Conservation in its wider context
