Icon Conference 2022: Call for Twitter Presenters

To accompany the Icon Conference this year, students at Cardiff University will be hosting a Twitter Conference #IconReachOut22

To accompany The Icon Conference this year, on behalf of the Committee, the students at Cardiff University will be hosting a Twitter Conference #IconReachOut22. The combined theme of the events is Reaching Out for Recognition.

The aim of this Twitter Conference is to :

  • Provide a free online forum to encourage public debate and uplift diverse perspectives
  • Support the work of early career and emerging professionals
  • Support professional networking as well as public engagement
  • Inform and curate themed networking sessions at the main Zoom event

The Twitter Conference will take place on 24th & 25th May 2022 at 10am – 12pm BST.

The deadline for submissions is 28th April 2022.

The Programme

Day One will explore RECOGNITION: how our work is recognised and valued by others and importantly how we value the work of ourselves and each other.

Day Two will celebrate how we are REACHING OUT and collaborating with others beyond the conservation sector: with communities, with artists and with individuals and the impact that this is having.

Who we are looking for

Do you have a story to share on the topic of RECOGNITION or REACHING OUT?

A project past, present or in the pipeline. An object that has required you to reach out to others within the profession or externally.  Have you received recognition or felt you haven’t got the recognition you or the project deserved?  It could be a story of success or failure or somewhere in between. What did you learn and how will that help others?

How it works – Selected Presenters

During IconReachOut22 each presenter will be allocated a 15 minute time-slot to present their work in a 5-10 tweet conference paper.  Presentation tweets can be text based (within the 280-character limit), each tweet should be accompanied by an image or illustrative figure.

A presenters guide with information about tweet formatting and guidelines will be released prior to the conference. To manage hiccups on the day and help you manage your presentation, you will need to fill in a tweet template form, completed and returned by 2nd May.

It is especially vital that you will be available during your presentation time slot to answer potential questions you might receive, like at a real conference.

Please provide your Twitter handle in the submission form below. If a participant does not have a Twitter account, then the Icon can schedule the tweets through the Icon Twitter account.

The language of the conference is English.
