About the Role

We are looking for a Collections Conservator, Hampshire and Isle of Wight to join our team. The role is part time and permanent. You`ll be on a permanent, part time basis, working 14.4 hours per week. It is anticipated that this will be worked over 2 days a week, but this open for discussion with the successful candidate.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced conservator to manage and deliver the care and conservation of our historic collections in our Hampshire and Isle of Wight properties and stores.

As Collections Conservator, Hampshire and Isle of Wight, you will manage and deliver the care and conservation of our historic collections located at Osborne House and across our other properties and stores in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight.

You`ll lead on the implementation and maintenance of appropriate collections conservation standards across sites in Hampshire and Isle of Wight, assisted by two Collections Conservation Assistants. You will develop and provide training in all aspects of preventive conservation to colleagues across Hampshire and Isle of Wight.

You will also work with colleagues across the organisation to ensure collections conservation best practice during activities ranging from building works to events as well as usual site operations and visitor opening.

About You

To be considered as Collections Conservator, Hampshire and Isle of Wight you`ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree, postgraduate qualification and/or equivalent experience in collections conservation or preventive conservation
  • Experience of working in historic houses
  • Current understanding of preventive conservation standards applied to historic houses, museum displays and storage
  • Experience of working with a range of heritage professionals
  • Excellent communicator and influencer with proven ability to build and sustain positive relationships outside own area - across teams and disciplines
