The Anna Plowden Trust offers Conservation CPD Grants and Scholarships

The Anna Plowden Trust runs two main grant programmes

03 Mar 2022

The Anna Plowden Trust was established in 1998 in memory of Anna Plowden who was a pioneering conservator in the private sector. The Trust supports the development of skills in conservation and raises awareness of conservation.

The Anna Plowden Trust runs two main grant programmes:  Conservation Training Scholarships and Anna Plowden/Clothworkers' Foundation CPD Grants.

CPD Grants

Four deadlines a year – January, April, June, September

Our Anna Plowden Trust/Clothworkers’ Foundation CPD Grants enable conservators practising in the UK to take advantage of CPD opportunities by contributing towards the cost of short courses and attending conferences. Grants can be awarded for up to £1,000 or 50% (whichever is the smaller amount) of the cost of the conference or training course.

We welcome applications for in-person or online CPD events.

Plowden Scholarships for conservation training

One deadline a year - early June

Since 1998 the Trust has supported hundreds of talented people to train as conservators.  We can offer up to 30 Plowden Scholarships every year.

Our Plowden Scholarships contribute to primary training of conservation students in the UK by providing funds towards course fees. We seek to prevent financial reasons from being an obstacle to entering the conservation sector. The Trust is committed to ensuring its support reaches all under-represented groups.

The deadline is in early June annually for the following academic year (i.e. June 2024 for the 2024/25 academic year).
