Conservation and heritage science play crucial roles in ensuring the preservation of and access to heritage collections. Current resources, practices and expectations however, mean that fulfilling these roles also creates a carbon footprint. A growing number of tools and resources are available to help conservators and heritage scientists decrease the carbon footprint of their spaces, yet with resources becoming increasingly tight, it is ever more challenging for practitioners to identify the resources and actions that will be impactful for them and to then enact them.
This webinar discusses a collaborative project to explore whether a standardised method of assessing sustainability would help address this challenge and drive forward positive change.
This 18-month project piloted the UCL Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) as a means to measure the sustainability of labs and studios.
Join the Icon Heritage Science Group and Sustainability Network to hear more about this framework and the findings from this project.
Plus have your say on whether a sustainability certification framework of this sort could be beneficial to the sector.
