We are a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. We create space for spirits to stir and be stirred.

We are looking for someone to join our conservation team, who are responsible for the care of thousands of historic objects within these palaces, many of them on open display in their original setting.

About the Role

As a key part of this team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the buildings and collections in our care continue to be provided with the highest standards of preventive conservation and collections management. 

Your work will cover a wide range of activities, from assisting in the planning, co-ordination and delivery of collection moves and protection works, delivering our day-to-day preventive conservation program, carrying out hands on conservation cleaning, undertaking condition auditing, providing specialist preventive conservation advice and support across the organization, carrying out environmental risk management and collections management tasks. 

You should be able to work at heights and move collection items on a routine basis. 

The role will also include additional evening and weekend working at any of our sites to supervise events and activities such as filming and corporate functions. 

Although based at Kensington Palace you will be required to travel to assist in the care of our other palaces.

About You

You will have a passion for heritage and a recognised conservation qualification or equivalent. You are passionate about building your knowledge of preventive conservation and collections management through practical experience working in a delicate heritage setting.

You will have a keen attention to detail and be happy to work both independently and as part of a busy team.

You will also enjoy working in front of the public and discussing your work with colleagues and visitors alike.
