Tobit Curteis Associates LLP are seeking a conservation professional and collections conservator to work with them on environmental survey, monitoring and control, both for historic buildings and collections.

The key roles will be undertaking conservation surveys of historic buildings and collections, the design and maintenance of our environmental monitoring systems, and analysis of and reporting on the environmental data in order to advise our clients on the conserva on of their buildings/collections. Additionally, working on conservation research projects, sometimes in collaboration with other project partners or institutions.

This position would suit an early to mid career conservator with practical experience in building and collections conservation. Due to the nature of the role, we will consider conservators with experience in some but not all of the required areas, with training and mentoring to be provided in others.

About the Role

  • Conservation surveys of historic buildings and collections
  • Environmental monitoring including programming and testing of telemetric monitoring equipment and remote data acquisition
  • Maintenance of our network of monitoring systems both in our office and on site
  • Environmental data analysis and interpretation
  • Writen reporting and presentation to clients
  • Advising on environmental monitoring and control for historic buildings and exhibitions
  • Graphic and photographic condition documentation
  • Related project and office administration

About You

  • Degree level or higher qualifications in a related conservation or architectural discipline
  • A thorough understanding of conservation principles for historic buildings and collections
  • Familiarity with environmental monitoring, data analysis and control
  • Good communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Good interpretation and report writing skills
  • Good IT skills (in particular Microsoft Office and graphics packages)
  • A self-starter with good me management skills and able to work to a deadline
  • The ability to work both as part of our team and alone on historic sites
  • The ability to work at height and outside
  • The ability and willingness to learn new skills
  • Fluent spoken and wri en English
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A willingness to work addi onal hours as required and, on occasion, away from home
