Tate are looking for a motivated Assistant Frames Conservator to join our Paintings, Frames & Workshop Conservation team. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Frames Conservation team supporting Tate’s programme of exhibitions, displays, loans & acquisitions.

About the Role

You will support frames conservation for the exhibitions and displays, acquisitions and loans programme documenting, preparing and treating frames within Tate’s Collection. You will use innovative solutions to plan projects and solve complex challenges for collection artworks and ensure high standards of preservation.

The role is based across the London sites, Tate Modern, Tate Britain and Tate Stores.

About You

You will hold a recognised qualification in the Conservation relevant to the role and have demonstrable practical experience treating and stabilising a broad range of frames or gilded wooden objects with full consideration of the practical and ethical issues. You will have performed condition surveys, prepared estimates and will understand long-term care issues for frames. Effective communication will be essential, as well as good time management, organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
