Please join us for this purposeful event in Edinburgh, exploring challenges and opportunities in the heritage world
You are warmly invited to register for this day event in central Edinburgh. It is timed to follow the anticipated publication of HES’s new sector strategy document, and to take account of a range of issues. These include the skills crisis, acceleration to meet Net-Zero aims, increased pressures on Local Authority and other public sector estates, and challenges facing funders to meet ever increasing heritage funding requests.
Thus, and with intentional networking opportunities, the purpose of the day, in the face of skills shortages, climate change and budgetary constraints, is to consider;
- Aspects of built heritage management and conservation, skills needs, the long-term provision thereof and knowledge-sharing generally
-Issues of academic training in conservation (plus ongoing CPD provision and accreditation thus bringing in challenges for FE and University educational institutions, often themselves in historic buildings)
-Public engagement around the economic significance, potential and overall value of built heritage conservation
-Legislation and policy developments
-Conservation in place making and as a preventive spend
-Aspects of listing
