Multaka-Oxford: Museum Collections from Multiple Perspectives

Icon Ethnography is delighted to host a tour of online exhibition Weaving Connections and talk on Multaka-Oxford project by Thandiwe Wilson

Multaka-Oxford is an inclusive volunteering project delivered jointly by Pitt Rivers Museum and the History of Science Museum where we work in a three-way partnership with staff, volunteers and the local community.

Multaka translates from Arabic to English as “meeting point”, bringing people and museum collections together as a springboard for inter-cultural dialogue and enabling people to interpret and share knowledge of cultural heritage.

Join us to hear more about how collaborative work using a collection called 'Textiles from the Arab World' donated by Dr Jenny Balfour-Paul helped us think critically about collections practices, develop an online exhibition and champion different perspectives in museum spaces.
