Presentations and a Q&A session with sustainable building experts
Join the ESN for its latest webinar ‘Sustainable approaches to cultural buildings’ featuring sustainable building experts May Cassar and Peter Draper.
May Cassar will consider what makes a museum, gallery, library, archive or historic building ‘fit for purpose’ and the role of the building, infrastructure, fixtures, collections, staff, volunteers and consultants in achieving environmental sustainability. She will pose a question for the participants to consider: are these technical, organisational or policy decisions and where do we start?
Peter Draper will run through the basics of: the domestic experience of retrofit, the government focus on MEES (Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards) and EPC targets, the BSI standards that are trying to embed the ‘Whole Building Approach’ into retrofit and the need for conservators to be part of the project team so that they are represented fully.
Following the presentations, the floor will be open for audience questions. Please don’t hesitate to send questions in advance to [email protected]. We hope to see you there!
