As Trustees we are responsible for the extraordinary collection of art at Compton Verney, funding acquisitions, conservation and authorising loans while providing professional expertise in developing the significant contribution the Collection makes to its programme. As a recent Finalist in Art Fund Museum of the Year, this is an important moment for Compton Verney as it embarks on exciting plans to grow its audiences and to engage with audiences in different ways through the revised strategy and business plan.

Compton Verney Collection Settlement is responsible for ensuring the care and safety of the collections, the acquisition of new works and oversight of loans from the collections. The CVCS Trustees are jointly responsible for ensuring that CVCS is well managed, solvent, acts in accordance with its Trust Deed, and manages its activities in furtherance of the objects set down in that Deed. CVCS Trustees have powers under the trust deed to: Acquire works of art by purchase, loan, gift, bequest exchange or other lawful means in accordance with the CDP. Fund conservation of the Collection. Loan, hire or dispose of items in the Collection.
These powers should be exercised in accordance with charity law and best practice and the requirements and recommendations of Arts Council England (ACE).
Trustees will Attend and play an active part in Trustees’ meeting (4 per year mix of London and at Compton Verney) Use their knowledge of and experience to help the Trustees reach sound decisions Avoid unauthorised conflict of interests Act as a champion for the collection and Compton Verney Share contacts to enhance fundraising capabilities and profile Have a 4-year term with an option to renew for a further 4 years.
