Conservation Intern

Oxford Conservation Consortium (Deadline 23/2/2026)

05 Feb 2026
Oxford Conservation Consortium (OCC) has a paid opportunity for a student or recent graduate of conservation specialising in either books or paper to carry out the conservation of a collection of twentieth-century architectural plans from Worcester College, Oxford.

The role is an opportunity to gain practical conservation experience working on large format architectural plans on paper, tracing paper, and drafting film in a busy conservation studio.

Carden & Godfrey Architects, who specialised in the restoration and adaptation of historic buildings, were employed as College Architects by Worcester College for over 50 years. Before they ceased trading in 2023, the firm transferred a large number of rolled plans of College buildings to the Worcester College Archives. The postholder will be required to carry out conservation treatments on a selection of the plans, under supervision of an experienced conservator on the OCC team. The job will be based at the OCC studio in central Oxford, with visits to the collection site at Worcester College.

This is a fixed term contract for five continuous weeks at 32.5 hours of work a week, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday with 1.5 hours of breaks per day. Free lunch at Magdalen College is provided. Start date is negotiable, but will take place in summer or autumn 2026.

How to Apply

Applicants must be enrolled at the time of application on a recognised course in conservation specialising in either books or paper. Please note that only applicants who have the right to work in the UK can apply for this role.
