Join our team and play a vital role in protecting and celebrating Hull’s rich maritime story as we launch an exciting new maritime experience for the city.

About the Role

In this role, you will help lead the assessment and installation of Hull’s maritime collections as they return for display at the Maritime Museum, ensuring their condition and stability across the museum, collections store, and two historic vessels.

You’ll work closely with the Curatorial Project Manager and Curator of Maritime and Social History to identify priority items for conservation, undertake object conservation, and coordinate external specialists where needed. Alongside this, you’ll create and deliver volunteer-led conservation activities, recruit and manage volunteers, and engage the public in raising awareness of our collections and conservation practices.

This is a unique opportunity to shape a lasting legacy for Hull and its maritime heritage.

About You

We are looking for:

  • A graduate qualification in object conservation (or equivalent).
  • Experience in museum or heritage conservation, with strong practical skills.
  • Ability to manage volunteers, supervise staff and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
