Skillington Workshop Ltd is one of the country’s foremost sculpture, plaster and stone conservation firms.
Established in 1997 we are based in Grantham, where we have our offices and studios, and work on projects throughout the UK as well as overseas. Clients include English Heritage, The National Trust, numerous churches and cathedrals, local authorities and private clients. Whether it be prehistoric or late 20th century everything we work on has cultural significance and is treated with care and respect in accordance with recognised conservation principles.
About the Role
We are seeking to expand our team of architectural materials and sculpture conservators and will consider applicants with a variety of experience levels from trainee to accredited conservator level.
About You
You will:
- Have a passion for cultural heritage.
- Have an understanding of stone conservation reflecting the level at which you are applying.
- Enjoy problem solving and working on unique and varied projects.
- Work both on site and in the studio. Sometimes site work involves short periods working away.
- Have sufficient language and computer literacy to be able to produce quality treatment proposals and records.
- Be a team player and willing to engage with the development of this part of our business.
- Have a current driving licence.

Hours are expected to be 40 hours per week but with some flexibility, and we would consider a part-time or reduced hours application. Overtime rates apply as do travel-time pay when on site, and working away allowances.
