CPD Recall

Guidance for completing and submitting your CPD Recall

CPD is a key requirement of Accreditation. To become and maintain Accredited Conservator status, you must continue developing your knowledge, skills and professional experience throughout your career. As part of the Accreditation process, you are required to submit a CPD recall demonstrating how you maintain your competence and align your practice with the Icon Professional Standards.

The CPD process encourages a broad and flexible approach to learning. It recognises a wide range of activities that contribute to meaningful professional development, including formal learning (courses, conferences, reading) as well as informal learning from projects, workplace experience, reflection and collaboration.

For this year’s cohort, the CPD Recall deadline is 7 September 2026 at midday.

We have recently updated our forms to make them more accessible and easier to complete - please choose the option that best suits your circumstances.

A reasonable adjustments process is available to support ACRs with disabilities or learning conditions. If you may require support, or have difficulties completing the form, please contact [email protected] to discuss your needs and request the appropriate form.

Tips

There are almost endless opportunities to support your ongoing professional development, and it can seem daunting to work out what the right option is for you.

Below, we have outlined a series of tips to help you get underway. However, we are also here to help and support you—please do get in touch with us by emailing [email protected] if you have any questions.

Top Tips
  • The most important factor to remember is that this is your own personal continuing professional development, not that of your employer.
  • Take some time to assess where you are now and what you want to achieve. Ask yourself: is this the best way of meeting my own CPD goals?
  • You should aim to be reflective and insightful about your own practice and professional development.
  • You may already be developing your skills through activities outside your day-to-day practice, such as volunteering or other personal interests.
  • It’s not always about workshops, training, or conferences. Depending on what you need to learn, you might find that a conversation with a former colleague or time spent reading back issues of the Journal of the Institute of Conservation or Iconnect magazine can be just as effective.
