We are pleased to present a joint 2-day online conference. The conference will be an international forum of professionals and students to share, discuss and disseminate the latest research and projects on the conservation of ceramics, glass and stained glass. We will host an exciting range of talks, interactive Q&A sessions, posters, tours and networking opportunities. From Notre-Dame de Paris to Nantes cathedral, how recent disasters question stained glass conservators’ workKatie has an MA in Stained Glass Conservation and Heritage Management and a WRoCAH-funded PhD in History of Art, both from The University of York. In 2013 she received a forty-week travelling scholarship from Worshipful Company of Glaziers, gaining conservation experience in studios across Britain and Germany.
Her interest in narrative glass led her to conduct her doctoral research upon the St Cuthbert window at York Minster, providing new insights into the window’s history and significance that are already being used to inform its conservation. She has also worked closely with York Minster’s heritage team on the exhibition Light, Glass & Stone: Conserving the St Cuthbert Window, which opened in June 2021 and will remain in place during the current conservation work.
Katie has a wide-ranging interest in stained glass and cultural heritage. She is currently Conservation Research Officer for the York Consortium for Conservation and Craftsmanship (YCCC) and is a freelance stained glass consultant. As a research affiliate of the History of Art Department at the University of York, she is working to prepare her thesis for publication through the generous assistance of a Paul Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship.
