Overview

This presentation will examine William Morris’s interest in illuminated manuscripts and medieval print culture through an examination of Morris’s Kelmscott Press and the Kelmscott Chaucer.

Speaker Bio

Moira Duncan is currently a doctoral student in Early Modern English Literature at the University of Ottawa. Moira completed her master’s and bachelor’s at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. Her master’s thesis examined Elizabeth I’s humanist education and her gender performance in her public speeches; while Moira’s doctoral research centres on Princess Mary and Princess Elizabeth’s education, commonplace books, and later writings, products of their divergent educations. Moira’s other research includes Book History and Print Culture. She has worked in Archives and Special Collections and has independently published and given lectures on Book History.
