Committee Structures
Most Groups and Networks have a:
- Group Chair
- Group Treasurer
A typical Group Committee structure includes:
- Group Chair
- Group Treasurer
- Group Secretary
- Events Officer
- Marketing Officer
Some Groups have additional roles and / or multiple people with one role, for example 3x Events Officers.
Here are some examples of what the different roles do.
*A required role for a Group
Group Chair*:
- Leads the Committees meetings
- Steers the Group’s work and activities
- Is the main point of contact with Icon Staff
- Attends the annual Group Chair’s Forum
Group Treasurer*:
- Creates the Group’s Annual Budget
- Submits that Budget to Icon Staff for review
- Manages the Group’s finances and annual allowance
- Throughout the year liaises with other Committee members about any spending
- Approves any spending done by the Committee
- Claims the Committee’s expenses from Icon Staff
Group Secretary:
- Takes minutes at meetings and circulates them
- Leads on any admin the Group requires
Events Officer:
- Leads on creating ideas for new events
- Leads on planning and delivering events
- Completes the Event Form on the Icon website
Marketing Officer:
- Manages the Groups social media, LinkedIn, etc
- Manages the Group’s page on the Icon website, liaising with Icon Staff with any updates wanted
- Perhaps writes blog posts
