Accreditation was developed by, and for, conservator-restorers. The Icon Accreditation process is only possible because of the contribution of 300 Accredited and Emeritus members of Icon who dedicate their time to making Icon Accreditation possible. We are profoundly grateful for their time and commitment.
This includes those who support candidates on their accreditation journey, assess professional practice, and help ensure that the high standards of the profession are maintained.
Who Does What?
- Pathway Mentor: An experienced and trained Accredited Member who can support and guide the Pathway Member, helping them progress towards, and through, the Icon accreditation process.
- End-Point Assessor: A qualified assessor and Accredited Member who leads the Assessment process, ensuring all standards are assessed and proper procedure is followed.
- Specialist Advisor: An assessor and Accredited Member from the same specialism as the candidate, who provides assessment expertise on all matters relating to the conservation specialism in an assessment.
- Moderation Committee: Accredited Members responsible for undertaking internal Quality Assurance checks on completed assessments, to ensure the process has been carried out correctly and assessment decisions are clear, fair, consistent and informed by the ACR Assessment Criteria.
- CPD Reader: An Accredited Member trained in peer-reviewing other ACR members’ CPD Reviews, to evaluate their ongoing continuous professional development after accreditation.
- Professional Standards and Development Committee: Icon trustees and co-opted members with responsibility for overseeing the whole process and ensuring Icon Accreditation is fit for purpose. This involves reviewing the Professional Standards Framework, approving significant procedural changes and reviewing quarterly reports to ensure that the quality of assessment is maintained.
