Government launches 'The Skills Toolkit'

The Government has today (28th April 2020) launched 'The Skills Toolkit' an online platform to help individuals "improve their knowledge, build their confidence and support their mental health so they have skills they need to succeed after the coronavirus outbreak" says Rt. Hon. Gavin Williamson CBE MP, Education Secretary.

We wrote earlier in April (click here) about the huge range of free online courses which are available help develop your skills from the comfort of your home. 'The Skills Toolkit', developed by the Department for Education, collates free online courses developed by Open Lean, Cisco, Lloyds Bank and Google amongst others.

Courses available focus on developing digital and numeracy skills, and include many that could be incredibly useful. These include 'Digital Skills: Social Media for Business' (Accenture), 'Presenting Your Work with Impact' (University of Leeds and Institute of Coding)  as well as the 'Fundamentals of Digital Marketing' (Google Digital Garage).

To take a look 'The Skills Toolkit' here.

Looking for inspiration? Why not think about "Collaboration, Communication and Remote Working" developed by the University of Leeds and the Institute of Coding, available on FutureLearn.

The six week programme will help you to be able to: identify the key components of successful collaborative and remote working;  demonstrate successful interpersonal skills at work, and demonstrate successful storytelling techniques and presentation skills at work.

It is of course hard to work your way through the range of options. It is important to make sure that any programme you do choose is right for you, helps meets your own CPD goals and is of course achievable for you to complete amongst all of the other commitments you are juggling.
