Conservation Matters Wales 2021 Virtual Conference: Call for Papers

Conservation Matters in Wales are looking forward to welcoming you to the return of the popular Christmas conference (virtually this year)

The theme of this year's Conservation Matters conference is focused on breaking the isolation. We are going to celebrate the small wins that you may have had whilst we have been apart and hear about unexpected opportunities for collaboration and new discoveries. Conservators are resilient and innovative, and we want to hear about things you have learnt and spaces for reflection.

We are now seeking proposals for talks on ideas, case studies and impacts of conservation. Your 20-minute presentation might be on:

  • How you coped with lockdown life as a conservator
  • What you learnt about conservation from the pandemic that you might take forward
  • How your organisation managed conservation issues during the pandemic

Venue: Zoom (we aspire to an in real life gathering next summer)

Date: 22nd December 2021, 2pm to 5pm

Deadline for submission of abstracts (max. 200 words) to Megan de Silva ([email protected]) by 1st December 2021

Registration is free – register here.

In addition to the talks, we will run a virtual coffee break chat - the first 5 minutes will be your chance to grab a paned, then there will be 15 mins in break out rooms to engage in a little informal networking on the theme of the conference.

This cross disciplinary conference will be attended by conservators, curators, collection managers and others engaged in the care of collections. The conference ethos is to be an inclusive network and proposals are welcomed from those inside and outside of Wales.

Cadwraeth yng Nghymru / Conservation Matters Wales is a collaboration between Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales, the Federation of Museums and Art Galleries in Wales, and Cardiff University.
