Icon's virtual open studios will be featured at the Heritage Open Days festival taking place 11-20 September 2020.
Accredited conservators across the country have been busy opening their virtual doors to the public to showcase their work as part of the 20th Anniversary celebrations of Icon Accreditation.
The virtual studio tours will be featured as a part of England's largest festival of heritage and culture. Every September, Heritage Open Days sees some 46,000 volunteers across England organise 5,500 events as a chance for visitors to see hidden places and try out new experiences for free. This year, HODs is going digital and is for the first time in its history hosting online events, making Icon's virtual open studios a natural fit for the programme.
Through a series of videos audiences will be able to hear from conservators and see for themselves where they practice their specialist skills. These include the conservation of books and paper, ceramics, architectural paint, archaeology, and objects. The tours will demonstrate how the maintenance of high professional standards has positively impacted on the work of professional conservators.
Make sure to save the date and pop into Icon's virtual open studios!
