Returning for another year, the Photography Prize celebrates the skill, craftsmanship and expertise that underpin conservation practice.
This year's theme, Skills at Risk, invites photographers to explore specialist techniques, traditional crafts and practical knowledge that are increasingly rare, overlooked or vulnerable to being lost. From conservation treatments and workshop practices to the transfer of skills between generations, submissions should highlight the value of endangered expertise and those working to keep it alive.
Photography has a unique ability to document not only objects and collections, but also the care, knowledge and technical skill involved in their preservation. Through this competition, we hope to shine a spotlight on the people and practices that sustain conservation and cultural heritage.

The winners of the Icon Photography Prize 2026 will be announced at the Icon Winter Reception on Thursday 26 November at the October Gallery, London.
We invite all members to join us for an evening of celebration, networking and reflection on the remarkable skill and dedication that sustain conservation practice. Alongside the prize presentation, the reception offers an opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the sector and view the shortlisted images that bring this year's theme, Skills at Risk, to life.

How to Enter
The competition is open to amateur and professional photographers aged 18 and over. Entrants may submit one original photograph that responds to the theme. Full technical requirements and the submission form are available on the competition webpage.
