However, that doesn’t mean everything will stop, there are lots of things that you can be doing even now to support your CPD.
Event organisers are working hard to look at how formal training and discussions can be moved online. This includes our professional development events as well as other webinars and opportunities for discussion being developed by the groups and others in the conservation community.
Thinking creatively will be really important, Icon Trustee, Pierrette Squires ACR shared some fantastic ideas in her article last week, so do take some time to read through. What you choose to do will depend on your own situation and your own development needs.
To help get you started we've put some top tips below:
- Take time to look at the CPD information on the Icon website which gives an overview of the principles of CPD.
- Take time to complete your own self assessment, thinking about what it is that you have already done.
- Think creatively about what will work for you in your current situation. CPD doesn’t always have to be ‘big’ actions, it could be as simple as taking time out to call a colleague or read an article - take a look at our CPD can be simple guide here.
- Talk to others about what they are doing.
