Nominations Open for Icon's 2025 Board Elections

Help shape the future of Icon - nominations are now open for four seats on Icon's Board of Trustees.

24 Jun 2025

Icon's Trustees are responsible for shaping our vision, mission and strategy. With four positions open for election at Icon's 2025 Annual General Meeting, this is a unique opportunity to play a central role in guiding the future of the conservation profession.

Serving as a Trustee is a unique and rewarding opportunity to shape the future of Icon. Icon's Board of Trustees has the ultimate responsibility for the strategic direction of Icon, ensuring we stay true to our founding mission. If you’re passionate about the future of the profession and want to make a meaningful contribution to Icon’s leadership, we encourage you to consider standing for election.

About the Board

There are 16 Trustees on Icon's Board, 11 of which are Icon members elected by the wider membership to represent the diverse range of specialisms, areas of practice and interests that form the conservation sector. There are four seats for election at Icon’s 2025 Annual General Meeting:

  • Three unreserved seats
  • One representative seat for Scotland

Candidates must be Accredited, Pathway, Associate or Student members of Icon, but you do not need to have previous experience of being a trustee. We welcome individuals with a wide range of skills, whether in governance, finance, law, strategic planning, or the softer skills that underpin collaboration and leadership. Above all, we’re looking for people who are committed to Icon’s mission and the future of the conservation sector.

The successful candidates will become trustees following the AGM on 6 November 2025 and serve an initial three-year term.

The Role

Trustees meet four times a year for formal Board meetings and also participate in an annual Strategic Planning Day. In addition, Trustees are encouraged to join committees or working groups that match their expertise and interests.

On average, the time commitment is one day per month. This includes reviewing papers and reports, attending meetings, and engaging in high-level discussions about Icon’s work and the wider sector.
