Heritage science at the Ashmolean Museum – behind the scenes and centre stage
The heritage science team at the Ashmolean Museum is opening their lab doors to Icon members.

Take a look behind the scenes at the Ashmolean museum’s heritage science facilities, its range of equipment and hear about recent heritage science projects. The visit will include a tour of the museum’s two permanent conservation galleries, Conserving the Past and Restoring the Past, to see how the museum brings conservation and heritage science to the public.
The range of equipment includes: ScanSilc X-radiography system with Golden pulsed X-ray generators; Opus Apollo IRR Camera; Bruker Hydra XRF/XRD; Bruker Crono MA-XRF, Keyence VHX 7000 3D video microscope; ECS Partners Ltd Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) and a Bruker Tracer 5g pXRF.
The meeting point will be in Conserving the Past Gallery (gallery 4) on the lower ground floor.
