This talk is part of our ‘In Focus: Liverpool Conservation Talks’ series, which are 'bitesized’ conservation themed 30-minute lunchtime talks held on the second Wednesday of every month.
Our next talk is with Helena Jaeschke, Conservation Development Officer who supports more than 400 museums across the southwest of England as part of Museums Development South-West. Trained initially as an archaeological conservator she has worked across sites in the UK and Egypt.
Helena will be talking to us about her current project investigating conservation hazards and how to mitigate them. Almost every museum has hazards and this latest project aims to support museums to identify, register and make safe hazardous objects from their collections. In this project the identified museums will receive training and support, a practical kit and access to a library of loan equipment to deal with the identified hazards. The talk will discuss how the project came to be, how it was designed and funded and the response so far.
