First Aid for Finds Celebration and AGM

Join us to celebrate the launch of the Fourth Edition of First Aid for Finds!

Join us for a special online event celebrating the launch of the long-awaited 4th edition of First Aid for Finds, the essential guide for the care of freshly excavated archaeological objects.

This live session will feature an exclusive lecture from the book’s authors, who will discuss the evolution of First Aid for Finds, highlight the key updates in the new edition, and share insights from decades of experience in archaeological conservation. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how the latest edition is organised.

We will also be joined by Morgan Creed who will deliver the first of a series of related lectures and talks bridging and celebrating the common ground and shared interests of archaeology and conservation. Morgan will share with us a new resource for undertaking condition checking of materials found in archaeological contexts, with the aim of streamlining the conservation process for post-ex archaeology.

The event will also include the Annual General Meeting of the ICON Archaeology Group, offering members the opportunity to hear updates, contribute to discussions, and shape the future direction of the group.

Following the AGM and lecture, there will be a Q&A session where attendees can put their questions directly to the authors, making this a unique opportunity for archaeologists, conservators, students, and heritage professionals alike.
