Dr Esther Cameron

Esther Cameron trained in archaeological conservation at Durham University and has a PhD (Anglo-Saxon sheaths and scabbards) from Oxford University, and an MA in Museum Studies from Southampton University. She has worked for County Museum Services in Wiltshire, Kent, and Oxfordshire, as conservator and curator. While conservator for the Institute of Archaeology, Oxford, she moved gradually from archaeological conservation generally to investigating and reporting organic materials. Turning to freelance specialist work, she has published widely including ‘Scabbards and Sheaths from Viking and medieval Dublin’ (2007) and is now assisting with the hoard from Le Catillon II, Jersey. She is semi-retired.

Mr Neil Maher

Museum Conservator, Jersey Heritage

Neil Mahrer was born and educated in Jersey. He studied archaeological conservation at the Institute of Archaeology and subsequently did a history degree with the Open University and the AMA postgraduate course in Museum Studies at Leicester University. Neil has worked as the museum conservator for Jersey Heritage since 1986 and has led the teams excavating, conserving and investigating the hoard.
