I am an accredited conservator with the Institute of Conservation (Icon) specialising in metalwork of all types and multi disciplined complex conservation projects.
I have 47 years experience in the conservation profession, qualifying as a Silversmith from Sheffield City Polytechnic in 1979, working as a metals conservator with Peter Smith R&R Ltd then Plowden & Smith before founding my conservation practice, Richard Rogers Conservation Ltd in 2005, the practice was sold in 2025 and subsequently the new owners decided to close the business after a short time.
Currently the founder and owner of a new company Conservation Consultants Ltd based in Leatherhead, Surrey. As one of the leading specialists in the metalwork conservation profession the practice provides a professional service for museums, private collectors, galleries and institutions. I have a proven track record for the implementation and completion of complex conservation projects, both large and small, together with my small team of conservators and specialists. We carry out work in the United Kingdom and worldwide. Conservation collection surveys and consultancy are a large part of our work the most recent being for York Minster and the National Trust as ongoing projects.
