Office of Public Works launches Irish Heritage Studies, a new research journal

The new ‘Irish Heritage Studies’ journal invites submissions for the first volume

The Office of Public Works is delighted to announce the launch of a new annual research journal, ‘Irish Heritage Studies’, and invites submissions for the first volume.

Published in association with Gandon Editions, the journal will showcase original critical research rooted in the substantial portfolio of material culture in the care of, and managed by, the OPW: built heritage; historical, artistic, literary and scientific collections; the national and international histories linked to these places and objects; and its own long organisational history.

Journal articles will contribute to a deeper understanding of this remarkable collection of national heritage, and investigate new perspectives on aspects of its history.

Submissions in abstract form are now invited from academics, post-graduate students, allied professionals, independent researchers and OPW personnel.

The journal welcomes submissions from those at all stages of their research careers, including international researchers engaged with Irish or comparative studies, and the deadline for abstracts for the first volume is 15 December 2023.
