New Trustees for Icon’s Board

Icon’s next AGM is just around the corner – so there are some changes afoot on the Board!

This year, we bid farewell and grateful thanks to outgoing trustees Duygu Camurcuoglu, Lorraine Finch, Mel Houston, Adam Klups and Pierrette Squires, and outgoing co-opted trustees Frances Graupner, Martin Kirke and also our Chair, James Grierson.  All have reached the end of their latest three-year terms, having supported Icon through a range of interesting challenges, including the unexpected trials arising from the COVID pandemic.

We are deeply grateful to all of our trustees; every member of our Board demonstrates their deep commitment to Icon and devotes considerable time and energy to encouraging Icon’s small staff team and helping to ensure that we continue to deliver our strategic objectives as well as supporting our members.

Taking up their places at our AGM this year are three new nominated trustees – Icon members Nic Boyes ACR, Professor Anita Quye, and Michelle Rheeston. Anita is elected to the reserved seat for Scotland. Claire Fry ACR returns for a second term on the Board and will continue in her current role as a member of the Finance Committee. James Murphy, a co-opted trustee, was re-appointed for a second term by the Board earlier this summer.

We are also welcoming two new co-opted trustees to the Board – Charles Morse and Mark Ross. Both were chosen through a competitive application and interview process designed to ensure that the Board has all the skills it needs to succeed in the coming years.

Between them they offer expertise and experience in public affairs, communications, fundraising, campaigning, and business development. Charles has been actively promoting inclusive education and opportunities for those with disabilities, particularly minority groups and has lived experience from his own dyslexia. Mark holds an LLM in Commercial Law and has previous experience of trusteeship, including three years with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Research Trust.

Our new member magazine, launching this January, will include full profiles of all the new trustees to help members get to know them a little better – so stay tuned!

Please now join us in welcoming them all to Icon’s Board of Trustees at our AGM on 1st December 2023.

You can register for the AGM through our events calendar.
