Museums + Heritage Awards Announce Shortlist for the Restoration or Conservation Project of The Year Award

The shortlist for the Restoration and Conservation Project of the Year Award, presented in partnership with Icon, has been revealed.

We are thrilled to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the shortlisted projects for the Museums + Heritage Restoration or Conservation Project of the Year Award, presented in partnership with Icon.

The Museums + Heritage Awards celebrate the very best in museums, galleries, and cultural attractions. The awards highlight innovative projects, outstanding efforts, and exceptional contributions to the heritage sector. These prestigious awards bring together professionals from across the industry to honour those pushing the boundaries of museum and heritage work, fostering growth and learning.


Shortlisted Projects
  • Durham University - Conserving the Durham Shakespeare First Folio 
  • Cannington Shaw Preservation Trust CIC - No7 Bottle Shop 
  • Norfolk Museums Service - Norwich Castle: A Royal Palace Reborn
  • Dover District Council, The Landmark Trust; Haverstock, Ingham Pinnock Associates & Pitsilli Graham - Reawakening the Maison Dieu 
  • Buttress Architects & Preston City Council - Harris Your Place: The Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library 

Each of these projects have demonstrated outstanding work in restoring and conserving significant structures, preserving their history. The winner of the Restoration or Conservation Project of the Year Award will be announced during the live awards ceremony on Wednesday 13 May 2026. It promises to be a special occasion as we come together to celebrate the best in heritage conservation!


Join Us at the Museums + Heritage Show!

Icon will also be attending the Museums + Heritage Show which is taking place from the 13 - 14 May 2026. We are excited to be exhibiting on Wednesday 13 May at Stand A10 in the Sector Support Zone. 

The Conservator’s Perspective: Caring for Collections Today

Will are also delighted to be hosting a networking session from 1PM - 1:45PM in the Ambience Networking Lounge, 'The Conservator’s Perspective: Caring for Collections Today'. This networking session is designed for conservators and conservation professionals working across museums, galleries, archives and heritage collections.

Join colleagues to discuss current challenges in collections care, from preventative conservation and environmental management to balancing treatment needs with limited resources. It’s a great opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences, and connect with others working to preserve and protect collections for the future. We warmly encourage members to come along and take part.
