Lucy's undergraduate studies were at University College London where she studied History of Art with Material Studies. Later in her career, she undertook a mid-career Masters in Conservation specializing in bronze with The Royal College of Art and The Victoria and Albert Museum.

She is accredited by The Institute of Conservation and is an assessor for the PACR scheme on behalf of Icon. She has also been an Icon CPD reader for several years.

She teaches courses in the principles of bronze conservation and consults on conservation projects for local councils, contractors and architects. Alongside her role in the company, she writes academic articles on metal conservation including work for Oxford University Press and Routledge and writes best-selling thriller-fiction set in the art world www.lucybranch.com.

Conservation of Outdoor Sculptural Collection for Historic Royal Palaces

Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, Banqueting House and Tower of London Ongoing conservation work is carried out on the features and sculpture in the gardens and grounds of the palaces. The collection includes a variety of lead and bronze items which have varying routines and requirements. The work consists of monitoring, cleaning, applying a protective coating as well as documentation.

Consultancy Work For Port Sunlight Village Trust

The works carried out for Port Sunlight Village Trust last year included conservation assessments and reports, method statements, project management advice, analysis work, advice on materials, ethical considerations and historic research. The aim of this support was to enable those in charge to make good decisions about their historic bronze sculpture and to be there to advise the contractors about technical aspects of the work and quality standards.

Restoration of Alexander of Tunis

The statue has suffered from a harsh urban environment and had corroded uniformly. We undertook a full restoration of the monument to return the sculpture to as close a representation of the original finish as possible.

This project involved research of the original finish, contact and communication with the sculptor, DOFF cleaning, corrosion removal and treatment, repatination and hot waxing.
