Icon to exhibit at Museums + Heritage Show

Icon is excited to announce that we will be exhibiting at the Museums + Heritage show at Olympia, London, on 15th and 16th May 2024.

Whilst Icon has been a frequent visitor at the show in previous years, and run some working sessions, this is the first year we will have a stand at the show. Having this sort of presence will allow us to highlight the work of Icon and communicate what Icon membership is all about. Importantly it will also allow us to talk direct to conservators, and the clients of conservators, about the value of Accreditation and how it can be of benefit for both parties. Being able to showcase the conservation register will be a particular focus for us especially in directing potential users to it.

Icon partners the ‘Restoration or Conservation Project of the Year’ award

Whilst the show is a major focus of the 2 days, the Museums + Heritage Awards on the evening of the 15th at The Hilton in London will be a highlight in its own right. Celebrating the very best in the world of museums, galleries, and cultural and heritage visitor attractions, and dubbed the ‘Oscars of the museums world’, this is set to be a wonderful evening for the industry. Hosted by National Geographic Explorer, palaeoanthropologist, evolutionary biologist and stand-up comic, Ella Al-Shamahi, we are delighted that Icon is partnering with Museums + Heritage for the award for ‘Restoration or Conservation Project of the Year’.

The shortlist for the award is as follows:

  • The Bowes Museum - The Silver Swan; Bring Back the Magic
  • University of St Andrews, Libraries and Museums - Toxic Books: Detecting arsenic in 19th century book covers
  • UK Parliament - Elizabeth Tower; Restoring an Icon
  • The Churches Conservation Trust - Bees, Bodies, Bodley - The (Re)Birth of Sudbury Arts Centre
