Conservation of Gilded Decorative Surfaces – Gilded Mirrors, Furniture, Frames & Architectural Gilding
Based in a studio on the Shropshire / Welsh borders, work is carried out on the finest carved and gilded mirrors, furniture and frames largely from the late seventeenth century to mid nineteenth century as well as working on contemporary commissions, furniture and interiors of exceptional quality.
Architectural gilding work is also carried out on site on internal and exterior features and sculptures.
Conservation treatments are guided by a thorough understanding of historic gilded surfaces and a commitment to preserving original decoration wherever possible.
Treatments range from careful cleaning and consolidation of fragile surfaces to the delicate retrieval of original gilding obscured by later campaigns of restoration.
All treatment proposals are carefully tailored to the client’s requirements and the condition of each piece.
