CIfA - the Chartered Institute for Archaeology - has published its annual guide for clients.

The guide is aimed at anyone involved in the procurement of archaeological services. The information contained in the guide is also useful to those who advise clients or work within teams that involve archaeologists.

It explains what you need to do to meet the requirements of legislation or policy that relate to archaeology and why you need an accredited professional archaeologist to help you through the process.

The CIfA Client Guide 2022 includes information about archaeology, the role of an archaeologist and advice on procurement. The guide also highlights the economic and social benefit of archaeology.

This year’s theme is Buildings archaeology and development and there are case studies on industrial archaeology on Teesside, archaeology in the context of a listed building in the Lake District and a strategic approach to adaptive reuse.

The guide also includes a list of CIfA Registered Organisations and other useful information and contacts.

You can download a PDF copy of the CIfA Client Guide 2022 by following this link, and you can view a digital magazine version by following this link.
