Call for Applications: 'Connect: Global Leadership for Interconnected Heritage'

Applications are open for the IIC Congress Scholars Programme 2026 - 27

The International Institute for Conservation (IIC) has opened applications for the next iteration of its international leadership programme for mid-career conservators and cultural heritage professionals: ‘Connect: Global Leadership for Interconnected Heritage’. 

Funded by the Getty Foundation, the three-month online programme is designed to support emerging leaders in conservation and cultural heritage, with a focus on developing international networks, leadership skills, and collaborative approaches to global challenges facing the sector.


Who can Apply?

The programme will begin during the IIC Ghent Congress from 8 - 11 September 2026, and is open to conservation professionals with at least five years’ post-qualification experience.

Applications are particularly encouraged from individuals living and working in priority regions including South America and the Caribbean, Africa, South-East Asia, and Asia-Pacific countries.


About the Programme

Thirty participants will be selected to take part in the online-only programme, which includes:

  • Live online sessions and leadership masterclasses
  • Peer-to-peer learning and collaborative workshops
  • Optional mentoring opportunities
  • The opportunity to pitch for seed funding to support new ideas and initiatives

Successful applicants will also receive:

  • A £150 stipend and digital participation grant
  • Free online registration for the IIC Ghent Congress
  • A digital copy of the Congress proceedings
  • A certificate of participation upon completion
