Angela will be speaking about our place in nature and looking at connections between craft and the natural environment. She will focus in on the natural materials used in her basketry practice, and their relationship to people and the planet.
Angela is an award winning modern artist - basket maker, deeply rooted in heritage skills and nature. She combines woven willow with woodland materials, making traditional and functional baskets, sculptural woodland baskets and garden plant supports. Her work is exhibited nationally.Angela’s designs are inspired by the woodland coppicing cycle, the willow harvest and found wild materials. Working with nature is an essential part of the creative process. She follows the seasons, putting nature first; her work is completely sustainable. Angela was granted a bursary by The York Foundation for Conservation and Craftsmanship to support her City and Guilds Advanced Basketry Skills Diploma, and a further bursary to research and recreate a C19th Yorkshire Laundry Basket.
