Have you ever thought that you'd like to work in the heritage sector? Have you wondered how you would do this? This course will answer these questions for you. Over four weeks we will look at the careers available in conservation and collections care. We will look in depth at what conservators and collections care professionals actually do. We will examine the skills you need to become a conservator and look at routes into the profession, training courses and internships.

 

Course aim

To provide an overview of the careers available in conservation and collections care. It will examine the skills needed, routes into the profession, training courses and internships available and what it's like to work as a conservator.

 

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

 

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Describe what conservators and collections care professionals do
  • Describe the variety of roles for conservators and collections care professionals
  • Understand the skills and knowledge I need to work in conservation and collections care
  • Identify the training courses and internships available
  • Identify routes into conservation and collections care
