Modern Materials Network and The National Archives: Knowledge Exchange and Spirit of Invention Tour

Please join us on the 13th September for an exciting knowledge transfer between the Modern Materials Network and The National Archives

Please join us on the 13th September for an exciting knowledge transfer between the Modern Materials Network and The National Archives.

Archives contain many modern materials that are not necessarily common to other collections as well as a much higher level of handling from researchers and the public. For this knowledge transfer these specific issues will lead a discussion about problems commonly found with modern materials within archives and potential solutions. The conversation will be prompted by items from the collection and we encourage / hope attendees will be keen to join in.

In addition, we have organised a self-guided tour of the current exhibition - Spirit of Invention – with opportunity to speak with the installation team.  The exhibition is inspired by some of the many original design ideas preserved at The National Archives as well as also showcasing new and cutting-edge innovation such as a necklace that changes colour when air quality is poor and clothing that expands with children as they grow.

After the event the Modern Materials Network will stay behind for lunch in the National Archives café for further networking and conversation.
