Introduction to gilding as a restoration technique for ceramics and related materials

Gilding as a restoration technique for ceramic and glass - skills for great results

Sarah Peek ACR and Jasmina Vuckovic ACR are pleased to announce the next gilding course at their studio in Brighton, Sussex.

This workshop is designed for conservators interested in gilding as a restoration technique, covering polishing, surface preparation, and various methods of applying gold using water and oil size gilding. Participants will learn to achieve different surface finishes, including distressing, toning gold colors, and working with other metals. Held in a bespoke commercial studio, the course offers a highly focused learning environment with a 1:3 student-to-tutor ratio. Attendees will be guided by Icon Accredited Conservators, ensuring the highest standards of craftsmanship and expertise.

Sarah and Jasmina have over 45 years of combined experience restoring gilded surfaces on ceramics and glass. Their teaching experience coupled with their experience running short courses promises to make this a fantastic opportunity to understand in more detail the theory reinforced with practical work on how to achieve a sympathetic repair to damaged or missing gilded decoration on ceramics and glass.
