The next instalment of Icon’s Health and Safety for Conservators is moving online for 2021. The four sessions are split over two days. It will provide an overview of the essential and current Health & Safety information for conservators working in a conservation studio and/or on-site.

11th March 2021

10.30am: Health & Safety Responsibilities - an overview of why we bother with Health and Safety, discussing our legal responsibilities under both criminal and civil law.

2pm:  Risk Assessment - an overview of the process of risk assessment and templates to follow.

18th March 2021

10.30am: Chemical Safety - looking at how chemicals cause harm and how we can protect ourselves and others from them. 

2pm: Manual handling, working at height and fire - a discussion of the top three of the hazards which are most commonly discussed and how they can be controlled

Professional Standards and Judgement & Ethics

This workshop will help develop your knowledge and understanding in relation to the following criteria:

  • 4b,Ensure that your work practices and any you promote comply with applicable legal and contractual requirements.
  • 4c, Ensure that your work practices and the area for which you are responsible comply with relevant Health & Safety regulations and guidelines, minimising risk to yourself and others.
  • J&E vii, Observe legal requirements and obligations, including those relating to health and safety, the environment, employment and contract law, and international agreements.
