Health and Safety for Conservators (March 2025)

Icon’s 'Health and Safety for Conservators' provides an overview of the essential and current Health & Safety information for conservators working in a conservation studio and/or on-site. 

This workshop is split over four sessions, across two days on 6 and 13 March 2025. The programme is delivered by Martin Adlem, an experienced Health and Safety consultant who has run this bespoke programme for conservators for move than 10 years. 


6 March 2025

10:30 - Session 1: Health & Safety Responsibilities - an overview of why we bother with Health and Safety, discussing our legal responsibilities under both criminal and civil law.

14:00 - Session 2: Risk Assessment - an overview of the process of risk assessment and templates to follow.

13 March 2025

10:30 - Session 3: Chemical Safety - looking at how chemicals cause harm and how we can protect ourselves and others from them. 

14:00 - Session 4: Manual handling, working at height and fire - a discussion of the top three of the hazards which are most commonly discussed and how they can be controlled
