Join the Icon AG for a lunchtime lecture on the discovery and conservation of the Melsonby Hoards
Two separate deposits, dubbed ‘Melsonby Hoards 1 and 2,’ were uncovered. Both hoards include vehicle parts, horse tack and other fascinating objects. This talk will introduce and contextualize the hoards. It will focus particularly on the preservation of Hoard 2, a ‘block’ of interconnected material that measured 1.10 min long, 70cm wide 40 cm deep and weighed approximately 210 kg when it was removed from site.
